How can we improve education for all? Inspiration Education for All
Education is a human right. It is imperative for improving health, tackling poverty and economic growth. But according to UNICEF there are still around 68 million primary-school-age children who are are still denied this right. We want your help to design fresh ideas to solve this problem. Get involved with your students now.

How can you make a difference?
We want to get young people around the world designing ideas that will help open up access to learning for children, wherever they are in the world. With your class or school you might consider setting some research challenges around the challenges of education: where does your country stack up against other education systems in the world, how do youngsters learn when they’re in the middle of a war, and if students without the internet are ‘disadvantaged in education’ then how could we get the web into every child’s hand? You may also want to watch the inspiring story of street porter Katumi and her journey to get an education.
And how about rethinking whether young people need school to learn at all by watching Sugata Mitra’s stunning video on how children learn using computers alone?
These provide great discussion points to kick off thinking about how important education is, and what needs to be done to spread learning to every corner of the planet. We’ll share more and ask you to contribute on this site in the coming days and weeks.
How does this fit in my curriculum?
When a child does not have access to an education it is often a complex issue with many contributing factors. When focusing on this in the classroom you can develop skills and curricular coverage in
- politics (why do some countries not provide free education for all, how is education funded?)
- history (of education systems, gender equality in further and higher education…)
- geography (exploring how climate and location affect a child’s educational chances)
- mathematics (understanding and creation of infographics using public data on education uptake, investment and school leavers)
- citizenship.
